Each new brief allows us the opportunity to set our creative minds free. Every new project we undertake, provides the opportunity to explore different creative concepts to adhere to an individual client’s commercial needs. The creative conceptual process and the journey that leads us to the final produced work is of equal importance. In the Studio Sketchbook we focus on showcasing that.

Severnscape is a development of 6 new luxury apartments in one of the most sought after areas in Portishead. With a proud maritime heritage, Portishead is a delightful and vibrant coastal town, transformed in recent years with the cosmopolitan marina and flourishing high street.

We were tasked with creating a brand that communicated this to the target audience. Both our conceptual creative routes were inspired by a maritime theme.

The first route took influence from the graphic and colourful theme of nautical flags. Taking flat, bold colours we explored the use of a striking illustrative style; echoing the style of the vintage travel posters. The vision was to commission bespoke illustrations of the area and key focal points, to create a series of limited edition prints that would each be issued to a property sold and given as a special gift. This created strong and very specific graphic vintage style that created an impact.

The second route has a much more tactile and contemporary feel. We used hand drawn elements such a bespoke icon and supporting font to communicate a softer more accessible brand image. A calming, natural colour palette was chosen to give the development a fresh and minimal feel; contrasting from the other concept produced and still in line with the developments vision.

Take a look at the final produced creative case study with a more aspirational feel here.
